Ageco is one of the five companies from Tanzania nominated by the US government to take part in the 2016 Power Africa Program. Under this program, Ageco will receive a grant of USD 100,000 to build a 34kW biomass gasification plant in Magungumka village, located in Ikungi District – Singida. It is expected that upon the completion of this project in December 2017, more than 200 households and businesses will be connected to the power produced from this plant which uses rice husks as raw materials. Also, the women from this community will be able to make briquettes from the by-products of the plant which in turn is expected to reduce the use of charcoal for cooking and thereby contributing in saving our trees.
